In November 2013, the seed for a new aerial show, SHAPESHIFTER, sprouted in my head, and for the next 6 months I focused most of my waking (and dreaming) hours on its creation! Inspired by the music of LA rock band The Shakers, I took their newest album Rescue Team and re-arranged the songs, inventing a narrative journey for the characters in the show, and also our audience, to embark on during each performance. The story is immersed in the live music of The Shakers, and the soaring vocals of their front woman, Jodie Schell, who plays a mystical Shaman. The journey and follows four Souls on a transformative path from darkness to light, as they encounter their darkest shadows in the character of Kali, struggle for change within themselves, and overcome their challenges to arrive in the realm of the Light Bearer.
During the creation of this show, I designed and co-fabricated the costumes for the 6 aerial performers and also The Shaman, collaborated with lead guitarist Chris Lee to produce an original piece of music, the hauntingly beautiful "Light Theme", worked with a metal artist to fabricate and later paint the Shaman's Cauldron set piece, and worked extensively with the awesome Tongue & Chic production team and Graham Skipper, who helped me realize my theatrical vision to its fullest extent.

The birth of Shapeshifter would not have been possible without the many friends, artistic supporters, and visionary believers who donated to our Indiegogo crowd funding campaign and made it all possible. Thank you!
Shapeshifter made its premiere with a two-weekend run in May 2014, at Way 2 Much Entertainment's radical warehouse in Silverlake, Los Angeles. We were blessed to have capacity crowds each night, and to have some awesome press! The LA Weekly wrote us an awesome review and called the show "Cirque du Soleil meets Rock Concert meets Art Show meets..." and said that Shapeshifter was "...a performance piece that's different from anything currently running in Los Angeles." Badass Bands Blog had some nice things to say too!
Shapeshifter played to enthusiastic crowds in 2015, at King King Hollywood and during a 3-weekend run at Way 2 Much in May 2015.
True to its title and inspiration, Shapeshifter is currently shapeshifting, and evolving into its next incarnation. We can't wait to rock again soon!
